"The
goal of the Phoenix-Fly Instructor program is to promote the safe usage of Phoenix-Fly products. The Phoenix-Fly "First Flight Briefing" aims to teach students the essential practical aspects of the discipline so that they can perform wingsuit skydives safely. |
I have selected Baxter Gillespie and James Boole as Phoenix-Fly
Instructor Examiners for the USA and Europe respectively.
Baxter and James will be responsible for training Phoenix-Fly
Instructors around the world and also for providing advanced
training.
As well as promoting safety, the Phoenix-Fly training
program will endeavor to help develop the wingsuit discipline,
answering questions, sharing knowledge and organizing
events & competitions.
The PFI program has been running since spring 2005 and over 86 wingsuit pilots from 14 different countries have already obtained the PFI rating. Contact us if you would like to join the PFI team."

Phoenix-Fly Instructor Program Details
Background
Wingsuit flying is one of the easiest skydiving disciplines,
it uses skills that a skydiver learns in their initial
training; the
arch
position for stability and the tracking position for
forward motion.
The Phoenix Fly Instructor
Program and Prodigy 2 wingsuit were conceived simultaneously
and represent a new way for skydivers to enter the
wingsuit discipline.
Together they offer a training
system that is less complicated, more affordable and
more accessible to new wingsuit pilots.
The PFI Program
The PFI training
program focuses on the important aspects required to safely
perform a
wingsuit skydive: • Main differences between
a wingsuit skydive and a normal skydive
• Correct assembly of the wingsuit
• Aircraft exit and flight path
• Deployment and emergency procedures
The PFI First Flight
Briefing was conceived with the normal dropzone environment
in
mind, special events such as large boogies require special
provisions.
The Prodigy 2 Wingsuit
The Prodigy 2 is incredibly
user friendly, flying the suit is very intuitive as it
is very solid and stable in the air. Assembling the suit
is also quick and simple as the design avoids cables
and booties. The Prodigy has the added advantage of allowing
the pilot to reach their risers and toggles, simplifying
the required response to a canopy malfunction.
