Westcoast Wingsuit Event - 15/10/07
James attended the WestCoast Wingsuit Weekend at Lodi last week.
The weather didn't cooperate on Friday but Saturday and Sunday offered warm blue skies.
11 flocks were made during the weekend, the largest being a 16 way. The skill level was good and the West coast proved they flock hard with nice forward speed and fall rates in the 60mph range (and even the 50s).
Some people had to leave early on Sunday which allowed the chance to do some smaller multi point flocks.
If you get the chance to attend a Westcoast Wingsuit Weekend - do so. You will not be disappointed, good people, good dz, good flocks and good wine.
Thank you to Ed & Michelle, Lodi DZ and all the participants; Reg, Tony, Scott, Wes, Sean, Ira, Chris, Xavier, Rob, Pete, Dave, Dingo, Timmy and Avery.

VKB and Phoenix Fly Co-development
We are happy to announce that Espen and Hans from the Norwegian VKB BASE team are working together with Phoenix-Fly to develop new wingsuits designs that are ideally suited to the VKB flying style.
From Espen:
"When size doesn't matter
I don't count seconds, and I don't measure distance. I aim for joy, and the experience of really seeing the speed. I aim for the sense of following the earths surface like a bird. When all the references are near, you can almost hear the sound of rocks and trees. Sometimes I need to fly flat to reach that goal, and other times almost vertical. On most jumps, different angles are needed thoughout the flight.
Such jumps demand a comfortable suit. A suit that gives the jumper confidence. Just as confident as one feels when tracking. It also needs to be accurate at all angles. At the same time it shouldn't be heavy to fly, even in 300 km/h. This suit is Roberts first step, with a goal of reaching such demands. It will be an never ending process. Problems will occur. But we are at the very start of terrain flying, which is bigwall jumping of the 21st
century. Join us to find the possibilities!
Espen Fadnes VKB#7"
The photos below were taken by Fredrik Naumann of Espen jumping the P-prototype in Norway.
